Administration
Tranent's close proximity to Edinburgh means that many pupils will find themselves employed in the capital city.
Many of the businesses that will be employing our pupils, will expect them to have a wide range of IT skills and have a good understanding of how businesses work. A qualification in Administration will give pupils these skills.
Pupils who choose to study Administration will gain an understanding in the following software packages:

Standard Grade
This course is offered to pupils in Senior 2. It is a two year course with the examination being done at the end of Senior 3.
The course equips pupils with the basic knowledge and skills needed to work in an office environment.
As part of the course, pupils will complete a Practical Project. This project is worth 40% of their overall course grade.
All pupils sit the General examination paper, and either the Credit or Foundation paper.
Intermediate 2 and Higher
One completion of the Standard Grade pupils can move on to Intermediate 2 or Higher Administration in Senior 4. Both courses run for two years, with a final examination being sat in Senior 5.
Both courses further develop the skills of pupils, using more advanced techniques in each of the software packages. The theory of the course also becomes more advanced and problem solving forms an even bigger part.
Pupils with a Standard Grade 1 - 3 can choose Higher.
Pupils with a Standard Grade 4 and 5 can choose Intermediate 2.
