Philosophy
To challenge and support pupils in a safe learning environment that provides a preparation for adult life in terms of self-confidence, self-discipline and self-motivation. To allow pupils to develop critical thinking skills through personal search and discussion of modern day issues.
Course Information
Core
S1 pupils study Buddhism and an introduction to other religions
S2 pupils study suffering and evil with particular reference to the Holocaust
S3 pupils study environmental issues
S4 pupils study human rights
Certificated Classes
S2/S3 level standard grade RME is offered
S4/S5/S6 higher and intermediate 2 philosophy is offered
Departmental News
Pupils from S4/S5/S6 higher and intermediate 2 have recently been to an informative one day course looking at and debating topics of modern day morality such as those of abortion and the death penalty. This took place at Hutchison’s Grammar School in Glasgow.

Wednesday - Lunchtime - S2 homework help & after school - S5/6 NABS and preparation for mocks
Thursday - Lunch S3 foundation/general - S2 homework help - 3.30 – 4.30 – S3 credit
