Philosophy

To aid our pupils in developing good values, citizenship and a “can do” culture. To encourage them to work more co-operatively with others and to equip them with skills required for life long learning.

Course Information

S4Pupils begin by undertaking Leisure and Making an Item experiences as well as working through a home unit. The leisure experience involves the pupils completing a six week block of a ‘new’ leisure activity. The Making an Item experience allows the pupils to work in small groups. They have to discuss, design, make and sell an item with the hope of turning their creation into a real money spinner.Pupils undertake a Work Experience placement in school which counts towards their overall SVS mark. The final experience involves pupils running a community event. They have to discuss ideas as a class and decide on the event that they wish to run for the community. They then have to plan, organise and carry out the event.
